How to reach Fort Laiedd west of Mount Gelmir

How to Reach Fort Laiedd and the Western Section of Mount Gelmir in Elden Ring

If you’ve explored near Mount Gelmir in Elden Ring, chances are you’ve come across Fort Laiedd nestled below the towering cliffs. Since the Legacy Dungeon doesn’t provide access to this area, you’ll need to find an alternative route. Here’s a guide on how to get to Fort Laiedd in Elden Ring.

The western part of Mount Gelmir in Elden Ring is situated below the towering cliffs where Volcano Manor resides. To reach this area, you can make your way to Altus Plateau. Although there are other paths you can take, I personally reached Altus Plateau through the Ruin-Strewn Precipice.

After exiting the dungeon, you’ll find yourself in a field with the Abandoned Coffin Site of Grace. Follow the sloping path while using the giant Erdtree in Leyndell as a point of reference. Keep in mind that the Ancient Dragon Lansseax might appear, but you can sprint past it if you wish to avoid combat.

Continuing onwards, you’ll come across the Erdtree Grazing Hill Site of Grace. From there, climb the rocky crag with a pointing statue until you encounter the Tibia Mariner. This is another optional boss, so feel free to skip it if you prefer.

Once you reach the western edge of Wyndham Ruins, you’ll notice a ravine with a river flowing north. Follow some interesting highlights in this area:

  • Burning Geysers – Watch out for steam eruptions from the ground and avoid the geysers and vents while riding Torrent.
  • Ash of War: Barrage – Hit the Dung Beetle near the beginning of the river in the ravine.
  • Site of Grace: Seethewater River – Keep moving along the ravine until you spot it.
  • Dungeon: Seethewater Cave – An Imp Statue dungeon awaits straight ahead as you follow the path.
  • Site of Grace: Seethewater Terminus and Fort Laiedd – At the path’s end, you’ll find another Site of Grace in front of Fort Laiedd.

After exploring Fort Laiedd in Elden Ring, there are more discoveries waiting for you:

  • Boss: Magma Wyrm – The Magma Wyrm emerges from the lava flows near Fort Laiedd, but it’s an optional boss so you can choose to not engage.
  • Landmark: Hermit’s Shack – Look out for a damaged statue and expect a Runebear to drop down and chase you. Allow it to hit the statue so you can collect several Smithing Stones.
  • Sorcery: Roiling Magma – This spell can be found inside one of the huts.
  • Iron Fist Alexander – If you’ve interacted with Alexander after the Radahn fight, you’ll find him at the lava pool behind the Magma Wyrm. Engage in a conversation with him to advance his questline, leading to the Shard of Alexander, one of the best Talismans in Elden Ring.

Continue heading east while following the loop to uncover more treasures:

  • Site of Grace: Craftsman’s Shack and Pulley Crossbow – Obtain this weapon next to the bonfire.
  • Prattling Pete “You’re beautiful” and Hierodas Glintstone Crown – Collect these as you navigate through the Hermit Village.
  • Boss: Demi-Human Queen Maggie – Prepare to face the Demi-Human boss surrounded by three Glintstone Sorcerers.
  • Site of Grace: Primeval Sorcerer Azul and Sorcery: Comet Azur – If you bypass the boss, you’ll encounter another bonfire with a mummified wizard offering the spell. These items may be crucial for Sorceress Sellen in Limgrave, aiding in her personal quest involving Azur and Lusat.

These are the notable findings I came across while exploring Fort Laiedd and the western region of Mount Gelmir in Elden Ring. Don’t forget to visit Volcano Manor to delve into the invader missions there.
