Maxis and EA Announce Romantic DLC for The Sims 4

Developer Maxis and publisher Electronic Arts (EA) have unveiled the latest downloadable content (DLC) for The Sims 4, focusing on all things romance.

First and foremost, The Sims 4 Lovestruck expansion pack introduces the ability to create an online dating profile using the new Cupid’s Corner app. Your Sims can peruse other profiles, match with potential partners, and plan dates. The app will showcase player-created Sims from the online gallery, offering a wide array of dating options.

The way Sims handle their relationships has been revamped with the addition of an attraction system that considers Turn-Ons and Turn-Offs. These factors influence the level of attraction between Sims and demonstrate the overall compatibility of their interests, activities, and more. Relationships will now fluctuate between four dynamics: wholesome, steamy, strained, or unpredictable.

During dates, you can swiftly change the venue choice, making it easier to explore different locations or get intimate in private. Other Sims will no longer interrupt your dates (unless you intentionally invite them for a conversation), ensuring your focus remains on your partner. Additionally, a new romantic boundaries system allows you to dictate how your Sims approach various boundaries, like physical and emotional exclusivity, and manage feelings of jealousy.

The Sims 4 Lovestruck also introduces new items and interactions, such as an adult costume box for dressing up in various outfits, shareable treat boxes, and a portable blanket for spontaneous romantic encounters. With two new aspirations, Paragon Partner and Romantic Explorer, a new romance skill will develop as you gain experience, unlocking additional interactions.

However, not all relationships are smooth sailing, as Sims who endure multiple heartbreaks can ultimately die from a broken heart. Sims in toxic relationships have the option to seek therapy before it’s too late, or even pursue a new Romance Consultant career to assist others, offering unique rewards.

Similar to other expansion packs in The Sims 4, Lovestruck introduces a brand-new world called Ciudad Enamorada. This world features a spacious park, romantic date venues, and an upscale uptown neighborhood, making it an ideal setting for dates.

The Lovestruck expansion is set to release on July 25, 2024, and is available for pre-order at the standard price of $39.99 / £34.99. Early purchasers will receive bonus digital items like the Cry Me a River Eyeliner, Basic Breakup Double Bed, and Herbert Heart Plushie.
