The key to solving Connections is to approach words from various angles. They might form a group of related items, be synonyms for a common word, be homophones, or share a common letter. Sometimes, hidden words may also be present.

Thinking laterally while solving is crucial, as just looking for obvious connections might not always work. Today’s puzzle, for example, required a different perspective for the purple group, where each word contained a number. This kind of creative thinking is essential for success in the game.

What is NYT Connections?

NYT Connections is a popular word game series from the New York Times. The game tasks players with finding groups of four items that share a common feature, with varying difficulty levels: green, yellow, blue, and purple.

Players have a bit of leeway, as they can make up to four mistakes and don’t necessarily need to solve the hardest group. However, the game can be tricky with wordplay and deceptive clues to keep you on your toes.

NYT Connections is accessible for free through the NYT Games site on both desktop and mobile platforms.
