How to Master Fishing in Once Human
Fishing is a crucial activity in Once Human, providing essential resources like meat for food and crafting materials. If you’re finding the fishing mini-game a bit challenging, here’s a comprehensive guide to help you excel at fishing in Once Human.
Crafting Your Fishing Gear
- Craft a Fishing Rod: To start fishing, craft a Fishing Rod at a Supplies Workbench using 20 Logs and 10 Copper Ingots.
- Craft Bait: Head to the Supplies Workbench to craft bait. You can create Dough Fish bait with x1 Corn or purchase bait from Margerie in Meyer’s Market. Experiment with different baits to attract various types of fish.
Finding the Perfect Spot
Scout for bodies of water like rivers or lakes across the map. Check pegboards on docks to identify the types of fish available in that area. Look out for fishing events at docking areas for a chance to catch rare fish like the Electric Eel.
Casting and Reeling In
- Equip the Fishing Rod in your hotbar.
- Aim by right-clicking and cast the line by left-clicking. Try to cast close to you to minimize reeling distance.
- Wait for a fish to approach your bait, indicated by a bobber icon in the middle of the screen.
- When the bobber glows, signaling a bite, hold down the left mouse button to start reeling.
Two bars on the bottom right of your screen will track your progress: Escaped-Hooked and Break-Slack. Your goal is to fill the top bar by maintaining tension on the line without depleting the bottom bar.
Mastering the Reeling Technique
- Watch the fish’s movements and adjust your camera position accordingly to maintain tension.
- Fill the Escaped-Hooked bar before the Break-Slack bar empties to successfully reel in the fish.
Patience is key when fishing in Once Human. With practice, you’ll improve your fishing skills and reel in some impressive catches. Remember not to pull the line too hard, as it can scare the fish away.
