Splitgate 2 Leaps Out Of A New Portal Next Year

Splitgate 2: A New Chapter in the Portal Shooter Saga

Splitgate took the gaming world by storm with its unique mix of Halo-style shooting and Portal-inspired portals back in 2021. However, the game struggled to maintain momentum once it reached version 1.0 and support was discontinued in 2022. Now, developer 1047 Games is back with Splitgate 2, looking to build on the success of the original.

What to Expect in Splitgate 2

Splitgate 2 will once again be a free-to-play 4v4 shooter, where players can use portal guns and traditional weaponry to engage in high-flying, dimension-shifting battles. This time around, the game is powered by Unreal Engine 5 and introduces a new focus on player factions. Gamers can join the Aeros, Meridian, or Sabrask factions in the Sol Splitgate League, each offering unique playstyles and strategies.

According to a recent press release, “Factions will grant players the ability to choose and progress based on their preferred gameplay style or competitive strategies.” The game will feature new objective-based modes, fresh arenas, and a variety of upgradable weapons to keep players on their toes.

Introducing the Splitgate 2 Companion App

Players can already dive deeper into the Splitgate universe with the newly released companion app for Splitgate 2. The app allows users to discover collectibles that will unlock in-game rewards upon the game’s launch. Additionally, it includes quizzes and a comic series titled “Splitgate: The Games We Play,” which will provide background information on the characters introduced in the game’s trailer. New comic issues will be released monthly to keep fans engaged.
