Ubisoft recently addressed the criticism surrounding the graphics of the upcoming game Star Wars Outlaws and has affirmed that the release date will not be delayed.
Earlier this week, IGN released a 10-minute gameplay video of Star Wars Outlaws, featuring protagonist Kay Vess on a mission in the desert planet Tatooine, ahead of its scheduled launch on August 30.
However, the gameplay footage received mixed reviews, with concerns raised about the graphics quality, frame-rate issues, animations, and special effects. The video accumulated more than 13,000 dislikes, overshadowing the 8,000 likes it received, as reported by GamesRadar.
Comments on the video expressed disappointment in the graphics quality, with one user questioning the level of polish for a game set to release in August. Another comment highlighted issues with the graphics, particle effects, explosions, and Kay’s facial animations.
During Ubisoft’s Q1 FY2025 Sales call, Ubisoft CFO Frederick Duguet confirmed that the game has gone gold, solidifying the August 30 release date despite the criticism received from the gameplay video.
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot also defended the game’s graphics and assured players of the high-quality experience they can expect from Star Wars Outlaws.
“The level of quality in the world and the overall gameplay experience is exceptional,” Guillemot stated. “We have put significant effort into leveraging our engine, and we believe players will be impressed.”
Star Wars Outlaws is set to launch on August 30, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.
