1047 Games has recently announced that the servers for Splitgate will not be taken offline in the immediate future, despite the upcoming release of Splitgate 2. While there are no current plans to shut down the game’s servers, the ability to purchase Splitcoin has been disabled due to its incompatibility with Splitgate 2.
Splitgate servers may be taken offline in 2025
According to an FAQ for Splitgate 2, players will still have access to Splitgate until the end of 2024. However, the developer has made it clear that the fate of the original game beyond 2024 is uncertain. With the release of Splitgate 2 scheduled for 2025, there is a possibility that the servers for the first game may be shut down.
Players are urged to stay updated on any announcements regarding Splitgate’s future through the game’s Discord server. It is advisable for players to complete any remaining objectives in Splitgate sooner rather than later in case the game does go offline in 2025.
As of now, the purchase of Splitcoin, the game’s premium currency, has been disabled. This decision was made because Splitcoin and any associated cosmetics will not carry over to Splitgate 2. Players are encouraged to utilize any remaining Splitcoin in the original game before the servers potentially go offline.
Splitgate 2 is promised to be a significant improvement over its predecessor, with new characters, weapons, and progression systems. Existing cosmetics from Splitgate will not be compatible with the new game, and the developer plans to reward players who transition to Splitgate 2, although specific details have not yet been revealed.
