Exciting News for Hunt: Showdown Fans!
A recent discovery on the ESRB website has unveiled a game titled “Hunt: Showdown 1896.”
While an official announcement regarding a follow-up to the popular PvEvP bounty-hunting horror shooter from Crytek is still pending, the rating for Hunt: Showdown 1896 by the Entertainment Software Rating Board in the US suggests that a sequel might be in the works. Alternatively, this rating could be signaling a significant update scheduled for release on August 15th.
The game has been granted a Mature 17+ rating and is set to arrive on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, promising intense action filled with blood, gore, and violence.
According to the summary provided, Hunt: Showdown 1896 is a first-person monster-hunting experience set in a fantastical version of the Victorian era. Players will utilize various weapons like bladed bats, clubs, brass knuckles, and pistols to eliminate zombie-like creatures and human foes.
The combat in the game is described as intense, featuring impactful sounds, gunfire, and blood-splatter effects. Certain weapons even allow players to deliver gruesome blows like caving in zombies’ heads or dismembering them. The summary also mentions unsettling details, such as zombies exploding into blood and viscera upon defeat, as well as a particular type wearing human skin as a cape.
Back in May, it was announced that Hunt: Showdown will be bidding farewell to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on August 15th, offering owners a free upgrade to the current-gen versions.
Originally launching in 2021 after spending a few years in early access, Hunt: Showdown received positive feedback, with Eurogamer contributor Edwin Evans-Thirlwell praising it as a unique “stealth survival game” in his Recommended review.
