Paramount Cancels Halo Series After Two Seasons

Paramount’s Decision on Halo TV series

After two seasons, Paramount has decided to cancel the live-action TV adaptation of Xbox’s popular franchise, Halo. The show’s second season made its debut on Paramount+ earlier this year.

Reports from The Hollywood Reporter suggest that the showrunners of Halo – Amblin, Xbox, and 343 Industries – are now looking for a new platform to potentially continue with a third season. Paramount is said to be backing this decision.

“Paramount+ has confirmed that ‘Halo’ will not be returning for a third season on the service,” stated Paramount in an official announcement. The statement also expressed gratitude towards the partners, cast, crew, and everyone involved in the ambitious series.

Halo faced a long development process before finally premiering on Paramount+ on March 24, 2022, with Pablo Schreiber taking on the lead role of Master Chief. The first season received a mix of reviews from both critics and fans, criticized for straying away from the established lore of the game. However, Season 2, which aired earlier this year from February 8 to March 21, was met with more positive feedback, being praised as a significant improvement. Season 1 currently holds a 70% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and 61 on Metacritic, while Season 2 boasts a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes and 64 on Metacritic.
