Stardew Valley Update Delayed for Console and Mobile Players
Players of Stardew Valley on console and mobile platforms have eagerly been awaiting the release of the 1.6 update, which was already made available for Windows PC players back in March. However, the update seems to be taking longer than expected to reach Android and Apple devices, as well as Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Concerns arose when Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone addressed the delay in a recent update post, stating that the console and mobile ports, along with the next PC update, are still a work in progress.
Barone reassured fans by saying, “I know it is taking a long time, it’s on my mind every minute. I have personally been working on the mobile port every day. I will announce when there is any meaningful news (e.g. a release date). Hope you’re having a good summer.”

Patience and Understanding from the Stardew Valley Community
Despite the delay, fans of Stardew Valley have shown tremendous support and understanding towards Barone. Many comments under his post express gratitude for his hard work on the game and encourage him to take the time needed to perfect the update. Barone mentioned that he is personally involved in the mobile port development, with The Secret Police also credited for their work on mobile. Sickhead Games, on the other hand, is responsible for the console ports.
Notably, the previous update, 1.5, was released on December 21, 2020, for PC and later arrived on consoles on February 11, 2021.
Exciting Features Await in Stardew Valley 1.6 Update
The upcoming 1.6 update for Stardew Valley is shaping up to be bigger and better than anticipated. With additions like a new farm type, two mini festivals, a three-day Spring event, and a summer celebration, players have a lot to look forward to. Barone has also incorporated numerous quality of life improvements and smaller features to enhance the overall gameplay experience. It’s worth noting that all updates for Stardew Valley have been provided free of charge, and Barone intends to keep it that way. In response to a player’s appreciation, Barone made a heartfelt promise: “I swear on the honor of my family name, I will never charge money for a DLC or update for as long as I live. Screencap this and shame me if I ever violate this oath.”
