Mortal Kombat 1’s Story Expansion “Khaos Reigns” Revealed
The highly anticipated story expansion for Mortal Kombat 1 has been unveiled, and it goes by the name of Khaos Reigns. This new chapter in the Mortal Kombat universe takes place after the events of the main story campaign and revolves around the invasion of Titan Havik from a parallel universe, as he aims to bring chaos to all timelines.
The cinematic story of the expansion introduces new playable characters, including Noob Saibot, as well as the now female versions of Sektor and Cyrax. These three fighters are part of Kombat Pack 2, and players can access them when the DLC goes live on September 24.
Following the series’ tradition, the second part of Kombat Pack 2 will feature guest fighters from iconic films. Characters like Ghostface from Scream, T-1000 from Terminator 2, and Conan the Barbarian will be joining the roster, although a specific release date for their availability has not been announced. It is worth noting that Kombat Pack 2 is bundled with Khaos Reigns and cannot be purchased separately.
Animalities, which were first introduced in Mortal Kombat 3, are set to make a return as a free content update accompanying the release of Khaos Reigns. These finishing moves involve fighters transforming into animals to unleash devastating attacks on their opponents. The trailer showcases Mileena transforming into a giant praying mantis, with every playable character expected to have their own unique Animality.
As an added bonus, players will receive the MK95 Scorpion skin today, inspired by the character’s appearance in the 1995 Mortal Kombat live-action film.
