Valorant Open Beta Now Available on Console
Valorant has officially launched in open beta on console for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. This means that players no longer need a special code to access the character-based 5v5 tactical shooter.
Riot Games confirmed this news following some leaks that indicated the game would be more widely accessible today. However, the speculations about the game leaving beta entirely were not entirely accurate.
How to Download the Valorant Open Console Beta
The open beta for Valorant is now available for PS5 players in North America, Europe, Japan, and Brazil. Players in these regions can simply visit the PlayStation Store to download the beta. To play Valorant on console, a Riot Account is necessary.
Once the account is linked, specific player data will be synchronized between PC and console versions, allowing players to carry over their progress across platforms (excluding ranking). The following data will be shared:
- Account Level
- Currencies (VP, Kingdom Creds, Radianite Points)
- Recruited Agents
- Weapon Skins
- Battle Pass
- Battle Pass Progression
- Mission Progression (Dailies, Weekly, etc)
It’s important to note that rank data is not shared between platforms. Xbox and PS5 players can play against each other, but not against PC players. Therefore, players on console and PC will have separate ranks and MMR on each platform. Progress made during the PS5 open beta will carry over to the full release of the game, although Riot Games has not revealed a specific release date for version 1.0.
Valorant is a tactical shooter that pits teams of 5 against each other in a futuristic Earth setting. With a choice of 24 unique Agents, each equipped with specific weapons and tactical abilities, players must gather intel, reinforce areas, scout enemy positions, break through defenses, and conquer territories. The console beta will feature all the maps, weapons, modes, and characters available on PC, including Competitive and Unranked modes like Deathmatch and Spike Rush across 15 different maps.
