BioWare has disclosed that their upcoming game, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, will contain even more lines of dialogue than the previous installment, Dragon Age: Inquisition.
In a recent interview with GamesRadar, creative director John Elper and creative performance director Ashley Barlow shed light on the decade-long development process of The Veilguard. Elper emphasized the importance of getting the game right, stating that it is shaping up to be the best version possible.
Barlow revealed that she has spent the last five years working with the main cast on the game, which boasts an impressive 140,000 lines of dialogue. To put this into perspective, Dragon Age: Inquisition previously held the series record with 88,000 lines.
“It takes a long time to record 700 characters, you know – 80,000 lines or 140,000 lines with all the Rooks. It just takes time to make good,” Barlow explained.
BioWare also recently unveiled the cast behind The Veilguard‘s seven companions and the four voices behind the playable hero, Rook. The studio made an appearance at San Diego Comic Con (SDCC), allowing attendees to meet some of the actors and catch a glimpse of the game’s dynamic conversation system.
The Veilguard is set to launch on PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC in “Fall 2024,” although an exact release date has not been confirmed yet.
The game will take place a decade after the events of Dragon Age: Inquisition and will offer players four different difficulty options as “playstyles.”
