Destiny 2 Frontiers DLC May be a Smaller Content Pack

Insider Rumors Hint at Smaller Destiny 2 Frontiers DLC

The latest insider rumors suggest that the upcoming Destiny 2 Frontiers DLC may be a smaller content pack compared to previous expansions. With recent layoffs at Bungie, it is likely that future content for Destiny 2 will be on a smaller scale.

What is a Destiny 2 Content Pack?

Content packs for Destiny 2 will be lighter and smaller than previous expansions like The Final Shape. This shift allows Bungie to continue releasing new content for the game while working with reduced resources after the studio’s restructuring.

Industry insider Jeff Grubb shared on the Game Mess Mornings podcast that future Destiny 2 content will be lighter and require fewer people to develop. Bungie is moving towards releasing content packs that may have a different feel but still offer engaging gameplay experiences.

Bungie teased new Episodes during “The Journey Ahead” stream in June, which are self-contained narrative arcs lasting six weeks each. The first Episode, Echoes, was released with ongoing story updates. Whether the remaining Episodes, Revenant and Heresy, will follow this model remains to be seen.

Details about Destiny 2’s upcoming Codename Frontiers pack are scarce, but it is expected to continue the game’s journey in 2025. The chance of it being a large expansion seems unlikely given the recent shift towards smaller content packs.
