Avowed Delayed To February 2025, Graciously Making 2024 A Little Less Crowded

Xbox Delays Avowed Release to February 2025

Xbox has announced that the highly anticipated action RPG, Avowed, has been delayed to launch on February 18, 2025, providing some relief to gamers facing a busy fall schedule.

The delay means that Avowed will now avoid competing with other major titles such as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows during the holiday season, instead opting for a release in the quieter period of early 2025.

In a tweet, Xbox mentioned that the delay was intended to give players’ backlogs some breathing room, as many new games are on the horizon. The company also teased that more details about upcoming games from Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda, and Xbox Game Studios will be revealed at gamescom.

During the same announcement, Xbox revealed that Avowed will be the focus of a livestream event scheduled for August 23, offering a closer look at the gameplay and features of the upcoming RPG.

Avowed promises to deliver a gameplay experience reminiscent of Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds, but with a more fantastical setting rather than a sci-fi one. Players can expect a choice-driven narrative with recruitable NPCs, a mix of melee, firearms, and magic combat options, and the flexibility to switch between first- and third-person perspectives. The game is set to be released for Xbox Series X|S and PC platforms.
