The Latest on Valorant’s Full Release
After just one week of open beta testing on PS5, Valorant has officially launched version 1.0 on the PlayStation Store. Players in the US, Canada, Europe, Brazil, and Japan can now enjoy the full game. Despite Riot Games’ usual lack of pre-announcement, the studio has shared its post-launch update plan for Valorant.
The Valorant Post-Launch Update Plan
Riot Games commits to updating Valorant every two weeks across all platforms. These updates address balance issues, fix bugs, and introduce quality-of-life improvements. In addition to these regular patches, the game will receive larger updates “a few times per year” that may overhaul an Agent’s abilities – either nerfing or buffing them. These major updates will be scheduled to avoid disrupting professional play schedules. The studio plans to maintain this update schedule moving forward.
However, Riot Games has made it clear that achieving parity between PC and console versions of Valorant is not guaranteed. The unique needs of each platform, from input methods to player strategies, mean that some Agents may perform differently on PC compared to console. This discrepancy is why Xbox and PS5 players can compete with each other but not against PC players.
Players can now download Valorant for free from the PlayStation Store, with progress from the open beta carrying over to the full game. Additionally, players can seamlessly switch between PC and console platforms, retaining progress across both (except for ranking).
For those looking to enhance their in-game experience, Valorant Points packages are available for purchase on the PlayStation Store. These premium currency can be used to acquire cosmetics, Radionite Points, and unlock the premium Battle Pass tier.
