Activision Bans Over 65,000 Players in Call of Duty Games
Activision recently took action against cheating and boosting in Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 by banning over 65,000 players. The bans were implemented across both Ranked and non-Ranked play modes.
Team Ricochet, the cheating enforcement team, stated, “The Ricochet Anti-Cheat team has now purged the Ranked Play leaderboards in both Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare 3, banning accounts for cheating and boosting.”
According to Team Ricochet, the ban wave was a result of accelerated cheat vendor enforcements, leading to the removal of 65,000 accounts in both Ranked Play and non-Ranked modes in Warzone and MW3. The team remains vigilant in monitoring and issuing enforcements against anyone found cheating or boosting in all game modes.
If the number of banned accounts seems low given the playerbase size, one commenter expressed a sentiment shared by many, saying, “65k accounts seems so small… I just feel like there’s so much more…”
For those who missed it, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is now available on Xbox Game Pass. Subscribers to Game Pass can enjoy all modes of Modern Warfare 3, including the single-player campaign, multiplayer, and open-world Zombies. This title marks the second Activision Blizzard game to join Game Pass following Microsoft’s acquisition of the company, with Diablo 4 being the first. Additionally, subscribers can look forward to playing this year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on October 24.
Black Ops 6 will have a multiplayer open beta in September, offering early access to eligible players (including Game Pass subscribers) one week prior to the official launch.
