Game Informer Shutting Down After 33 Years

Game Informer Magazine Comes to an End

After 33 years in operation, Game Informer, a prominent video game publication, has announced its closure. The magazine, which made its debut in 1991, was once a popular and well-known brand in the world of games media. However, as a property of struggling U.S. retailer GameStop, Game Informer has faced challenges in recent years.

End of an Era

Game Informer entered the scene in 1991 as a print magazine and later expanded its presence online in the mid-90s. Despite a recent revamp of its magazine subscription in March 2024, the publication’s web presence has not been as strong as it once was.

In a recent announcement, Game Informer revealed that it will cease publication entirely. The official statement expressed gratitude to readers and bid them farewell.

“From the early days of pixelated adventures to today’s immersive virtual realms, we’ve been honored to share this incredible journey with you, our loyal readers,” the statement reads. “While our presses may stop, the passion for gaming that we’ve cultivated together will continue to live on. Thank you for being part of our epic quest, and may your own gaming adventures never end.”

Immediate Closure

The closure of Game Informer is effective immediately, with the upcoming magazine featuring Dragon Age: The Veilguard set to be its final issue.
