What Are You Playing This Weekend? (3rd August)

Heading off for a weekend getaway and realized I have no games to play? What am I supposed to do, enjoy the sun and the pool like a normal person? Not a chance! A quick look at my eShop wishlist shows that Wildfrost is on sale, a game I’ve been eyeing for some time. But maybe I should tackle my backlog instead. Maybe I’ll finally finish Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, or Persona 4 Golden, or Eastward, or one of the other games staring at me.

Then again, I’ll probably end up starting a new game…

Despite my better judgment, I picked up an N64 controller for NSO. This weekend, I’ll be diving into classics like Banjo-Kazooie, Pokémon Stadium, and a lesser-known gem called Zelda: Ocarina of Time. And surprise, surprise, I’m back to binge-playing Resident Evil. I’m revisiting the OG game on PS5 and dabbling with a ROM for Resident Evil: Gaiden. It’s not the greatest game, but there’s something oddly enjoyable about it…

Exciting news – I am officially playing Ace Attorney Investigations!! It’s fantastic. I have so much to say about it, but alas, there’s no one around to listen! After getting my wisdom teeth removed yesterday, I’m sticking to calmer games this weekend like Subnautica and Everafter Falls. Since it’s a long weekend in Canada, I plan to stay indoors and indulge in all the soft foods. I also want to dive into Thank Goodness You’re Here and explain all the British references to my Canadian partner. It’s one of those weeks where I just can’t get enough of video games.

The sweet smell of August means soon I’ll be off the grid without any online devices in sight! But for this weekend, I’m finally diving into Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition with my Famicom controllers for that competitive edge. While I would love to revisit the glory days with my recently arrived physical copy of Rocket Knight Adventures: Re-Sparked, I have to prioritize my summer live DJ set – it needs to be ready by next week!

My game of the week continues to be Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown Deluxe Edition. I’m still on the hunt for all the hidden ace pilots. I don’t really need a reason to keep playing this game, I just love soaring through the virtual skies!

That’s what we have planned for the weekend, but what about you? Share in the comments what game you’ll be diving into this weekend!
