Max Payne 1 & 2 remake enters full production, Control 2 features in “playable form”

Remedy Entertainment recently shared its latest financial report, shedding light on the progress of some highly anticipated projects. The studio has officially announced that the remake of Max Payne 1 & 2 has entered full production, and significant features for Control 2 are now in a “playable form”.

The remake of the cult-classic slo-mo shooters Max Payne 1 & 2 was first revealed in 2022 through a collaboration with Rockstar. Updates have been sporadic since then, but last October marked the project’s transition to “production readiness”, and it has now advanced to full production stage.

According to Remedy, the development team has been diligently working on bringing the game to an early functional state from start to finish.

The live-service Control spin-off, Condor, is now the only multiplayer game in development at Remedy after the cancellation of Codename Kestrel earlier this year. Condor has also entered full production, with the team working on “multiple maps and different mission types”. Remedy has intensified its internal and limited external testing for feature validation and feedback purposes.

Regarding Control 2, the sequel to the acclaimed office shooter from 2019, it is currently in the stage of “production readiness”. The team has achieved a significant milestone by delivering a playable build of the game showcasing various important features. Remedy is aiming to ramp up production on the project, with ongoing “business negotiations”.

In other news from the world of Remedy, despite receiving critical acclaim, Alan Wake 2 has not yet generated enough revenue to begin producing royalties for the studio. However, Remedy has mentioned that it has recovered most of its development and marketing expenses. The studio has received positive feedback from both press reviews and fans for this year’s Night Springs expansion and has teased the physical edition of Alan Wake 2 arriving in October.

This coincides with Alan Wake 2’s upcoming DLC, The Lake House, where players will delve into a “mysterious facility located on the shores of Cauldron Lake established by an independent government organization for secret research purposes… until things take a turn for the worse”.
