The PS5 Is Getting An Officially Licensed Wireless Racing Wheel

Wireless gaming controllers have become the standard in the industry, but some specialty controllers like racing wheels have remained tethered. However, Hori is looking to change that with its upcoming wireless edition of the Apex Racing Wheel, set to release on October 24. Originally released as a wired wheel in 2022 for $120, the wireless Hori Apex is officially licensed by Sony and compatible with PS5, PS4, and PC.

Amazon is now accepting preorders for the $170 Hori Wireless Apex Racing Wheel, making it the first officially licensed wireless wheel for PlayStation 5. This is a significant step as there are currently no other wireless racing wheels for modern platforms from major brands.

For gamers looking for more advanced options, there are some solid wired choices available. The Logitech G29, currently on sale for $230 (was $300) on Amazon, offers premium performance and design with built-in force feedback and 900-degree wheel rotation for added realism on PC, PS5, and PS4.

Another standout option is the Gran Turismo-themed Thrustmaster T300 RS, priced at $450. This wheel is ideal for racing sim fans, featuring a dual-belt system in its brushless motor and proprietary magnetic technology for precise wheel control.

The Thrustmaster T248P at $400 is a high-performance racing wheel that focuses on customization, offering a built-in race dashboard, 25 action buttons, magnetic paddle shifters, and compatibility with an optional TH8S shifter for a more immersive driving experience.

On a budget, the Hori Apex wired model remains a reliable choice, along with the Thrustmaster T80 priced at $100 (was $110), both officially licensed by Sony.

For Nintendo Switch users interested in a racing wheel for Mario Kart, Hori offers officially licensed wheels with Mario Kart themes. The Pro Mini is designed for younger players and is currently on sale for $56 (was $70), while the Pro Deluxe is available for $89 (was $110).
