God of War Dev Cory Barlog Apparently Teasing New Game Again

Cory Barlog Teases New Game: A Space Adventure in the Works?

Santa Monica Studio’s own Cory Barlog is at it again, hinting at a new game that may not be related to the beloved God of War franchise. Speculation is ripe that Santa Monica Studio’s upcoming title will be a fresh new IP rather than a continuation of their flagship series.

Cory Barlog’s new game might be set in space

Barlog, known for his cryptic teasers and playful hints, recently shared on X that he’s back in the office. “After ages in the wilds of the badlands, I return to the mothership to cause chaos,” he tweeted alongside a photo of himself standing in front of a sign board featuring Santa Monica Studio’s recognizable logo and the intriguing word “Space 600.”

Rumors have been swirling about Barlog tackling a sci-fi RPG or a sci-fi game with RPG elements. Clues from various job listings support this theory, and the recent uptick in hiring at Santa Monica Studio indicates that development on this new IP is in full swing.

Apart from any external projects, this mysterious new IP will mark Santa Monica Studio’s first non-God of War release in two decades. The last time the studio ventured outside the God of War universe was with the 2001 release of the PS2 racing game Kinetica.

As for a release date, only time will tell. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that this exciting new title will aim for the PS5 rather than waiting for the PS6!
