PS5 Seeing High Engagement Despite Lack of Tentpole Exclusives

Sony reports strong user engagement for PlayStation in the first quarter of FY2024 despite a lack of major PS5 exclusives. While the last big title from Sony was Spider-Man 2 in October 2023, the company did release well-received console exclusives such as Helldivers 2.

Sony’s Commitment to Delivering Hit PS5 Exclusives from PlayStation Studios

In the latest financial results for the first quarter of FY2024, Sony reassured investors during an earnings call that user engagement remained high thanks to an expanding PS5 user base and strong franchise software titles.

With 116 million monthly active users in June, including PC players, Sony achieved its highest number ever recorded for that month. Alongside the growing PS5 base, user engagement received a boost from titles like Helldivers 2 and the PC release of Ghost of Tsushima. Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade also saw impressive sales.

Sony is taking steps to optimize development processes and revise schedules to ensure the consistent release of hit titles. The company’s focus is on increasing user engagement and expanding the installed base to secure a reliable source of earnings.

While there are no major games slated for release in 2024, gamers can look forward to titles like Concord, Astro Bot, and Lego Horizon Adventures in the near future.
