A new trailer has been released for the highly-anticipated Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket mobile game, revealing the app’s official release date.
Unveiled at the 2024 Pokémon World Championships held in Hawaii, the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket app is set to launch on both Android and iOS devices on October 30. Players can already pre-register for the game on the App Store and Google Play. Additionally, signing up for the free newsletter on the app’s official website will keep you updated leading up to the launch.
While the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket app will be free to play, it will also introduce a premium currency called ‘Poké Gold’. TouchArcade reports that there will be a monthly premium pass available for $9.99 or around £7.99, although it’s not clear yet what this currency will be used for. This pass and premium currency may likely be used to acquire limited booster packs.
The store pages for the app reveal that players will have the opportunity to unlock two free booster packs every day, similar to other mobile card games like Yu-Gi-Oh: Master Duel. The categorization of cards and the distribution between free and premium packs are still unknown, but it’s possible that rare cards will have a higher chance of dropping in premium packs.
Finally, the trailer concludes with a glimpse of an ‘immersive’ card featuring Mewtwo. These special cards seem to be the pinnacle of Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket and showcase animated scenes when interacted with. Following common gacha game practices, players may have the chance to obtain one or two of these exclusive cards through a rotating system.
