Offworld Industries Reveals New Features for Starship Troopers: Extermination
Offworld Industries, the developer behind Starship Troopers: Extermination, has unveiled more details about the upcoming updates for its bug-squashing 16-player co-op FPS game. Set to launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on October 11th, the game will bring exciting new features and enhancements to players when it transitions from early access to its official release.
In Extermination, players take on the roles of the Deep Space Vanguard, an elite Special Forces unit of the Mobile Infantry tasked with reclaiming planets from bug invaders. The game involves intense first-person bug-blasting, strategic base building, and resource gathering. One of Extermination’s standout features is its ability to showcase hundreds of bugs on screen simultaneously, along with persistent corpses that can impact gameplay.
With the full launch approaching, Extermination will introduce a variety of new game modes and features. This includes the Special Operations Group campaign, a single-player experience led by Casper Van Dien reprising his role as Johnny Rico. The campaign will consist of approximately 25 objective-based missions, lasting 2-3 hours in total, and will feature companion characters with unique backgrounds. Further expansions to the campaign are already in the works.
In addition to the single-player content, Extermination’s 1.0 release will debut the Galactic Front campaign for multiplayer gameplay. Clan-like companies of up to 30 players can join forces to tackle challenges, earn rewards, and progress through the narrative-driven campaign. Each Galactic Front operation will have its own story and activities, allowing players to explore new planets and face mutated enemies.
Offworld Industries has big plans for the future of Starship Troopers: Extermination, with ongoing post-launch updates that will introduce new modes, gameplay improvements, and eventually incorporate bugs and weapons from the franchise’s movies. The game is set to launch for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on October 11th, inviting players to join the bug-hunting action.
