Galar Calling: Special Research Season in Pokémon Go
“Galar Calling” is the season-long Special Research for the “Max Out” season in Pokémon Go. This Special Research focuses on Galar starters Grookey, Scorbunny, and Scobble and kicks off with a ‘choose a path’ decision between the three Pokémon.
The “Galar Calling” Special Research will be available until the end of the season, giving players until Dec. 3 to claim it. Once initiated, it will remain in your Special quest tab indefinitely, so there’s no rush to complete every step right away. With a total of 19 steps to work through, there’s plenty of content to engage with.
The “Galar Calling” quest was introduced alongside the “Go All Out” event, featuring the debut of various Galar Pokémon, a new UK regional exclusive, the Daily PokéCoin Bounty ticket, and a fresh set of Go Battle League rewards.
“Galar Calling” Special Research Quest Steps
Available from Sept. 3, players have until Dec. 1, 2024, to kick off the “Galar Calling” research. Once the quest is in your Special Research tab, there’s no expiration date, allowing you to progress through the steps at your own pace.
Below is a breakdown of the initial steps of the “Galar Calling” Special Research:
- Step 1 of 19: Catch 8 Pokémon (3 Charged TM)
Rewards: 800 XP, 800 Stardust - Step 2 of 19: Players will need to choose a path between the three starters — Grookey, Scorbunny, or Sobble — to embark on their adventure. This choice will impact later steps in the quest.
Rewards: Grookey, Scorbunny, or Sobble encounter, 1,000 XP - Step 3 of 19: Catch 3 Pokémon (3 Poké Balls) and take a snapshot of a wild Pokémon (5 Pinap Berry)
Rewards: Grookey, Scorbunny, or Sobble encounter, 1,000 XP
Further steps of the “Galar Calling” Special Research involve various tasks like catching Pokémon, spinning PokéStops or Gyms, evolving starters, sending gifts to friends, hatching eggs, and more. Keep an eye out for updates on the quest as new steps are expected to unfold.
Choose a Path Outcomes: Selecting Your Galar Starter
Players faced with the choice of selecting a Galar starter in the “Go All Out” event should know that the decision is purely based on personal preference. The quest’s outcome will determine which starter you encounter, evolve, and earn candy for in subsequent steps.
In addition to selecting your preferred starter, it’s worth noting that the chosen Pokémon will have a higher-than-average set of stats, guaranteeing a moderately powerful version with an “IV floor” of 10/10/10. While this guarantees decent stats, it’s important to remember that similar IV floors can be obtained through other gameplay features.
In essence, the “choose a path” quest does not offer exclusive rewards, so players are encouraged to opt for their favorite out of the three starters. Whether you prefer Grookey, Scorbunny, or Sobble, this choice is an opportunity to add a Galar starter to your collection without any urgency or pressure.
