Concord Servers Go Offline, Dev Thanks Players After Shutdown

Concord Shuts Down Servers, Developer Expresses Gratitude to Fans

Freegunners around the world are mourning the official shutdown of the Concord servers, marking the end of an era for the popular hero shooter game. The developers have taken to Twitter to express their gratitude to the dedicated fan base that supported the game during its run.

Message from Concord Developer

In a message posted on the official Concord Twitter account, the developers announced the closure of the servers and thanked the loyal players who immersed themselves in the Concord galaxy. The tweet read, “Concord servers are now offline. Thank you again to all the Freegunners who have joined us in the Concord galaxy.”

Refunds Offered to Players

Sony and Firewalk Studios declared on September 3, 2024, that Concord would be taken offline, promising refunds to players who had purchased the game for either the PS5 or PC platform.

Despite the server shutdown, there is a glimmer of hope for Concord’s potential return. Game Director Ryan Ellis hinted at exploring various options to reconnect with players, leaving the door open for the game’s revival in the future.

Physical copies of Concord have become rare commodities, with listings on eBay fetching considerable prices. While none have reached the exorbitant $25,000 mark, there are listings as high as $7,500. Additionally, controllers used for the game have seen an increase in demand, selling for anywhere between $280 and $420.

Following the closure of Concord, PS5 players have expressed their disappointment to PlayStation CEO Herman Hulst, who played a pivotal role in the acquisition of Firewalk Studios. Despite setbacks in the live service gaming sector, Sony remains optimistic about their upcoming game Fairgame$, developed by Haven Studios.
