Developer ‘Demoralized’ by Feedback on Once Human Season 2
The developer behind NetEase’s survival free-to-play horror, Once Human, expressed disappointment at the feedback received regarding the game’s second season. In a statement shared on the team’s Discord server, they emphasized the importance of player opinions and hinted at potential future updates based on player requests.
Addressing the feedback received since the start of Season 2, the team acknowledged that some of it had been demoralizing but highlighted their commitment to improving the player experience. Two major issues were identified by the team, related to weapon builds and scenario tags.
To address concerns about weapon builds, the team is introducing a blueprint conversion system. This system will allow players to adjust armor and weapon ratings to better suit their playstyles. As for scenario tags, the team is seeking feedback through a survey to better understand player preferences.
In a previous review for Eurogamer, Once Human received a modest three out of five stars. While the game was praised for its open-world scavenging mechanics, weak action and generic elements were cited as drawbacks. Since launch, NetEase has expanded its premium in-game offerings, including cosmetic loot crates.
Regarding the upcoming mobile port of Once Human, testing is scheduled to begin on September 19th. It remains unclear if the mobile version will support crossplay, especially considering the current lack of controller support and Steam cloud integration in the game.
