If you’re a player of Star Wars Outlaws, you may have experienced frustration with the game’s punishing stealth sections. Getting caught by an enemy results in an immediate mission failure, often leading to restarting an area and losing minutes of progress.
Fortunately, developer Ubisoft Massive acknowledges this issue and plans to make improvements. In a recent interview with GamesRadar+, the game’s creative director Julian Gerighty stated, “the punishing difficulty is a mistake, and something that we’re going to work on improving.”
Gerighty clarified that the goal is not to eliminate the fail state entirely but to make the game more enjoyable and understandable by addressing multiple small issues.
Many of the challenging sections are found early in the game, particularly in the opening world of Mirogana, which may not leave a great first impression for new players. However, a solution seems to be on the way soon.
Gerighty explained, “We just don’t want it to feel unfair. And today, I think it feels unfair. And believe it or not, this wasn’t our intention. This is more of something that crept in in the last week or so, and that we’re correcting already for a patch that’s coming out maybe in 10 days.”
This news will be a relief for those considering playing the game or looking to start a second playthrough.
Although the challenging stealth sections were a point of criticism, Managing Editor Rob Dwiar highlighted the game’s positive aspects in our Star Wars Outlaws review. He commended the authentic world, featuring stunning landscapes and movie-accurate details that will delight long-time fans of the series.
Star Wars Outlaws is now available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.
