Ever since it was announced last year, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed, the 3D platformer / brawler from developer A Heartful of Games and publisher Outright Games, has been on our radar. However, there has been very little gameplay footage released – until now! A brand new gameplay trailer has been unveiled, showcasing some exciting action.
Expanding on the initial gameplay snippet we saw back in July, the latest footage gives us a glimpse into the game’s storyline, narrated by April O’Neil. A horde of mutant villains are wreaking havoc, and as expected in a Turtles game, the half-shell heroes must stop them. The trailer showcases plenty of combat and basic platforming challenges, hinting at both single-player and co-op modes.
This game follows hot on the heels of the 2023 hit film, Mutant Mayhem, utilizing the same visually striking “3D-meets-2D” art style that captivated audiences. The return of the four lead voice actors for new dialogue adds an extra layer of authenticity to the game.
While some minor issues like stiff eye animations may be present in certain sequences, the combat looks engaging, and the visuals complement the gameplay nicely, exceeding initial expectations. Fans can look forward to its release on October 18th for the Nintendo Switch.
Earlier this year, Outright Games announced the deluxe Mutants Unleashed physical collector’s edition, packed with a plethora of Turtles merchandise but carrying a hefty price tag of £219.99 / €249.99/ $199.99. A third TMNT game slated for the Switch this year, it follows the arcade brawler Wrath of the Mutants and the Hades-like Splintered Fate. With multiple titles in the pipeline, fans have plenty to be excited about.
