Why Control 2 Development Isn’t Affected by Annapurna Interactive Resignations
Recently, Bloomberg reported that all the staff at Annapurna Interactive resigned when negotiations to spin out fell through. This raised concerns about the partnership between Remedy Entertainment and Annapurna for the development of Control 2. However, it has been clarified that the resignation at Annapurna Interactive does not impact the deal between Remedy and Annapurna Pictures.
Last month, Remedy and Annapurna entered into a partnership to assist in financing the development of Control 2. When fans expressed concerns about the situation, both Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier and Remedy Communications Director Thomas Puha assured that the upcoming sequel is not affected by the staff resignations.
“Remedy’s deal for Control 2 and Alan Wake is with the broader company, Annapurna Pictures, and is not impacted by the departure of Annapurna Interactive’s staff,” tweeted Schreier.
“Remedy’s deal for Control 2, including Alan Wake and Control AV rights, is with Annapurna Pictures, and we are self-publishing Control 2,” confirmed Puha.
Although Annapurna Interactive, the video game publishing arm of Annapurna Pictures, faced resignations, Control 2’s development remains unaffected as Remedy’s deal is with the broader company. The joint resignation statement from former Annapurna Interactive President Nathan Gary and the team emphasized the difficulty of the decision.
Control 2 is currently in active development, but fans will have to wait for more news on the sequel as Remedy has indicated that updates will be released at a later date.
