Palworld is “not changing business model” or switching to “free-to-play or games-as-a-service”

In a statement posted on X/Twitter, the company clarified, “We are not changing our game’s business model, it will remain buy-to-play and not f2p or GaaS.” This comes after an article discussing the future direction of Palworld led to confusion among players.

The interview in question took place several months ago when the team was internally discussing the game’s future. After careful consideration, Pocketpair concluded that the free-to-play or games-as-a-service approach is not suitable for Palworld.

The statement emphasized, “Palworld was never designed with that model in mind, and it would require too much work to adapt the game at this point. Additionally, we are very aware that this just isn’t what our players want, and we always put our players first.”

While skins and DLC are being considered for future development support, the team assures players that the priority remains on making Palworld the best game possible.

Palworld community manager John “Bucky” Buckley also shared his thoughts on gaming habits, emphasizing the importance of playing games that align with personal preferences. He encouraged players to take breaks if needed and reassured them that the Palworld team appreciates all players, whether they are currently active or taking a break.
