You can now make Pacific Drive’s weird survival a little less nightmarish with custom difficulty presets

Introduction

If you were one of the players who found Ironwood Studios’ unique survival game Pacific Drive a bit too challenging upon its release earlier this year, you might want to give it another go now. The new Drive Your Way update introduces a variety of custom difficulty settings and presets that can make your gaming experience easier or more difficult, depending on your preference.

Custom Difficulty Settings

Players can now choose from seven presets in Pacific Drive’s new update, allowing them to adjust the difficulty of their adventures in the Olympic Exclusion Zone. From the standard Pacific Drive experience to the Joyride preset that reduces gathering, crafting, and research requirements, there are options for every type of player. For those seeking a more challenging experience, presets like Nuclear Journey, which introduces lethal radiation, and Iron Wagon, which deletes your save if you fail, are also available.

Moreover, the Drive Your Way update empowers players to create their own presets with over 50 detailed customization settings, complete with adjustable value sliders for each element. Check out the video below for more information.

Considering Eurogamer’s review describing Pacific Drive as a “series of cruel brutalizations” and “horrible pain,” the new custom difficulty settings could be a welcome addition for many players.

Additional Updates

Apart from the custom difficulty settings, the Drive Your Way update also includes the ability to play custom music from local storage on PC, paintable bumpers and wheels, and two new collectible cosmetics – an antenna topper and mirror hanger. Additionally, Ironwood Studios has released the Anomalous Cosmetic Pack DLC, featuring various cosmetic items like the Mailbox Bunny bobblehead and Sawblade hood ornament.

This update marks the second of three planned releases for 2024, following the summer update which included a photo mode, new car and garage content, and cosmetic items. Another update is expected in the winter, with its contents currently listed as “redacted.”
