Ubisoft announces new DLC for Star Wars Outlaws
Following softer than expected sales for Star Wars Outlaws, Ubisoft has revealed plans for the first post-launch story DLC, set to release on 21st November.
The upcoming DLC, titled Wild Card, will feature Star Wars Outlaws protagonist Kay Vess as she embarks on a mission to infiltrate a high-stakes Sabacc tournament. Teasing the storyline, Ubisoft hinted at a thrilling encounter with the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, indicating that a different game is in play.
In addition to Wild Card, players can also look forward to two new cosmetic bundles – Hunter’s Legacy and Cartel Ronin – which will be included in the Season Pass. Furthermore, a free update introducing new Contracts for all players is scheduled to launch on the same day as the DLC.
Notably, Star Wars Outlaws will make its debut on Steam on 8th November. This announcement comes on the heels of Ubisoft’s decision to release all its new titles on Steam from launch day onwards, starting with Assassins Creed Shadows on 14th February next year. This move follows Ubisoft’s commitment to engage a wider audience following the underperformance of Star Wars Outlaws in terms of sales.
In response to the sales figures, Ubisoft assured investors that development teams are actively working on updates to enhance the player experience. The company emphasized its dedication to delivering multiple title updates that focus on optimization, gameplay improvements, and quality of life changes, including adjustments to combat and stealth mechanics. Additionally, a new story pack titled A Pirate’s Fortune, centered around Hondo Ohnaka, is set to release in spring 2025.
Despite these efforts, the fate of Star Wars Outlaws remains uncertain. Eurogamer’s Chris Tapsell previously criticized the game for its fundamental flaws, highlighting its shortcomings in comparison to other popular titles. Whether the upcoming updates and DLC will be enough to turn the tide for Star Wars Outlaws is yet to be determined.
