The answers for game #475 of NYT Connections are as follows:

  • YELLOW: COMPOSITE – BLEND, COMPOUND, CROSS, HYBRID
  • GREEN: EMBED – LODGE, PLANT, STICK, WEDGE
  • BLUE: ITEMS IN A MONOPOLY BOX – DEED, HOTEL, HOUSE, TOKEN
  • PURPLE: ___ CONTROL – BIRTH, CRUISE, QUALITY, REMOTE

  • My rating: Easy
  • My score: 1 mistake

My streak now stands at 23, quite a contrast from the time I struggled with eight Connections puzzles in 15 days. Today’s puzzle was relatively straightforward. I initially erred by associating HOTEL, HOUSE, LODGE, and COMPOUND as potential residential places, but upon closer inspection, I noticed the common COMPOSITE link between BLEND, COMPOUND, CROSS, and HYBRID.

For the MONOPOLY-themed group, HOUSE and HOTEL paired with DEED and TOKEN, and I successfully sorted out the challenging blank___ answers in the purple group.

What is NYT Connections?

NYT Connections is a popular word game series developed by The New York Times. The game prompts players to identify groups of four items that share a common trait, with varying difficulty levels: green is easy, yellow is slightly tougher, blue is often challenging, and purple is usually very difficult.

Players are allowed up to four mistakes and do not necessarily need to solve the final group, as it can be deduced through process of elimination. While more complex than games like Wordle, NYT Connections offers plenty of opportunities for tricky elements that may trip up players, such as homophones and word play disguising answers.

The game is accessible for free on the NYT Games website via desktop or mobile.
