Siren Rerelease Speculated as PS2 Game Gets New Rating

Is the Siren rerelease coming to PS5?

The classic PS2 horror game Siren has recently been rated on the Korean Game Rating Board, sparking speculation among fans. While the details of this release remain unclear, many believe it could simply be a rerelease running on PS5’s PS2 emulator.

One Reddit user on GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit pointed out that the description of the newly rated game is similar to the original PS2 classic. Despite the game already being available on PS4 through its PS2 emulator, the recent rating has fueled rumors of a potential re-release for the PS5.

However, there are other theories circulating that suggest this may be more than just a rerelease of a PS2 game. Job listings for PlayStation Studio Firesprite back in July hinted at a new “dark” AAA game with a strong emphasis on art, animation, and unique character performances to enhance player immersion. Descriptions of photorealistic visuals and “AAA quality creatures” further hint at a possible horror game in the works from Firesprite.

Adding fuel to the fire, a report from MP1st in early August suggested that Firesprite’s horror game could be a new installment in the Siren series. This speculation is based on clues from a former Firesprite employee’s resume mentioning work on characters and plot lines within existing intellectual properties.

While these rumors are exciting for fans, it’s important to remember that they are just that – rumors. Until an official announcement is made about a Siren rerelease, all of this remains speculative.

Sony recently updated its PS2 emulator for the PS5 this year, allowing games like Sly Cooper and Tomb Raider: Legend to be played on current-gen hardware. However, the launch of the emulator faced technical issues initially. Some of the latest additions to the PS5’s PS2 library include the entire TimeSplitters trilogy, delighting fans of the classic shooters.
