Microsoft rebrands 343 Industries to Halo Studios and hints at a possible Halo PS5 game
Over the weekend, Microsoft and 343 Industries made a huge announcement – the developer is now known as Halo Studios. This rebrand was unveiled alongside a new video, showcasing their transition from the Slipstream engine to Unreal Engine 5 for future projects. This unexpected change has sparked rumors among players, especially regarding the possibility of a Halo game on PS5.
Is Halo PS5 a real possibility?
According to reports from Push Square, PlayStation fans are starting to believe that a Halo game on PS5 could actually happen. Earlier this year, Tom Warren from The Verge hinted at a Halo: Combat Evolved remaster in the works, potentially making its way to the PS5. The recent footage of Halo Studios’ Project Foundry featuring Master Chief in his original armor from the first game further fuels these speculations. If this is indeed a remaster, then the chances of it landing on PS5 seem likely.
The shift to Unreal Engine 5 and the appearance of Master Chief in Halo: Combat Evolved armor have led players to believe that Xbox’s iconic shooter might soon be available on PlayStation. Comments on the Gaming Leaks and Rumors subreddit suggest that the recent developments point towards a Halo 1 remake being in the works.
While Xbox has previously brought games like Pentiment, Grounded, Hi-Fi Rush, and Sea of Thieves to the PS5, the addition of Master Chief and Halo to the PlayStation lineup holds more significance. Microsoft-owned Activision is set to release Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on the PS5 this month, further indicating the possibility of Halo making its way to Sony’s platform. However, Halo has always been closely associated with the Xbox brand, making this potential move even more intriguing.
