Kurast Undercity introduces a new time-attack dungeon experience in Diablo 4 with the first expansion, Vessel of Hatred. Traverse beneath the city of Kurast, the capital city of Nahantu, and race through the dungeon to earn rewards by slaying monsters, managing your time, and increasing attunement.
Unlocking Kurast Undercity in Diablo 4
Kurast Undercity is accessed by progressing through the Vessel of Hatred campaign until you reach Kurast. Complete tasks for the council in Kurast, typically around the time of facing the first major boss, to unlock access to the dungeon. As you continue the questline, more areas within the dungeon will become available for exploration.
Extending Your Time in Kurast Undercity

Starting with only 100 seconds, navigating through multiple dungeon floors and defeating enemies can deplete your time quickly. Look out for Afflicted Monsters and Structures with orange hourglasses near their icons on the map. Slaying these foes will not only refund your time but also push you over the initial starting timer. Strategize whether it’s worth the effort and time to defeat these elites or bypass them.
Try to group multiple Afflicted Monsters for efficient area damage, thus maximizing the time gained for your efforts.
Enhancing Your Kurast Undercity Loot Chest

Gain powerful loot and upgrades for your build by reaching the final dungeon floor in time and defeating the boss. Fill your Attunement meter to at least level 1 to qualify for reward upgrades. Active Beacons and Grand Beacons throughout the dungeon will spawn linked monsters. Eliminating these enemies attached to the Beacon will generate Attunement, gradually filling your meter.
Be cautious with your greed for Attunement, as prioritizing it over completing the run might result in no loot at all. Balance your time and priorities to maximize rewards while delving into the Kurast Undercity.
