Bartering in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred Explained

How to Initiate Bartering in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred

Although Trading has been a staple feature since the game’s inception, Bartering is a novel mechanic introduced in Diablo 4’s Vessel of Hatred expansion, and it operates differently as it does not involve the exchange of Gold. The key currency for this system is Pale Marks, which are required to engage with the Bartering vendor and gain access to exclusive Equipment, Materials, and other items. Here’s a guide on how to kickstart this new feature.

Unlock Mercenaries: Progress through the main campaign to unlock The Den, your base for mercenaries. Here’s where you can find it on the map.

  • Build Rapport: Interact with each mercenary to increase your Rapport level, allowing you to earn more Pale Marks.
  • Reach Rapport Level 5: Upon reaching Rapport Level 5 with any mercenary, a new NPC named Fayira will appear in The Den.

  • Trade with Fayira: Spend your Pale Marks on various items such as gear caches and legendary items.

For better quality items, ensure to level up your mercenaries and increase your Rapport with them. There are two bartering upgrades available for each mercenary at Rapport levels 5 and 8. Additionally, there is a rerolling system where you can reroll items at Fayira’s shop once daily for free. Subsequent rerolls will require a payment of 50 Pale Marks each.

To expedite the leveling up of your mercenaries, designate them as your Hired Mercenary. You can also assign another mercenary as your Reinforcement Mercenary, although the latter will receive 50% less Rapport while a Hired Mercenary is active.
