Atlus’ Metaphor: ReFantazio Surpasses 1 Million Copies on Launch Day for PS4 and PS5
Atlus’ latest JRPG, Metaphor: ReFantazio, has officially launched today for both PS4 and PS5, and it has already made a significant impact by reaching 1 million copies sold on its launch day.
Atlus made the exciting announcement earlier today, revealing that the total worldwide sales of both the packaged and download versions of Metaphor: ReFantazio have surpassed 1 million copies. In a translated statement, the company expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming support from fans.
According to the statement, “Today, October 11th, Metaphor: ReFantazio total worldwide sales (packaged version shipped + download version sold) have surpassed 1 million copies. The statement also highlighted some of the early accolades that the newly released game has received. With an impressive Metacritic score ranging between 91 and 93 depending on the platform, the JRPG has already garnered critical acclaim. Additionally, it took home the Future Division category award at the Japan Game Awards in both 2023 and 2024, as voted by the public.
Notable gaming website ComingSoon.net awarded Metaphor: ReFantazio a remarkable score of 9.5 out of 10, deeming it “excellent” on their rating scale. Reviewer Tyler Treese described the game as a “stellar role-playing game” and praised it as one of the best releases of this generation. Treese also noted that while the game offers familiar elements for Persona fans, it also introduces unique features that set it apart.
