Earlier this year, news of a Destiny mobile game from Bungie and NetEase leaked, following a 2018 announcement that NetEase had invested $100 million in Bungie for non-Destiny games. It seems Destiny Rising is the result of this collaboration, but there may be more in store between the two companies.
Aside from Destiny Rising, Bungie is also working on a survival shooter titled Marathon, along with other undisclosed projects. The studio underwent significant changes in 2024, including layoffs that impacted senior staff members. Some employees have even joined a new team at parent company Sony to develop an action game.
