Nintendo Surprise: Banjo-Tooie Coming to Switch Online Expansion Pack
Nintendo fans had a pleasant surprise this week as the company announced that Rare’s classic 3D platformer, Banjo-Tooie, will be added to the Expansion Pack service on October 25, 2024.
Rare, the UK-based studio behind titles like Sea of Thieves, expressed their excitement for fans to enjoy this beloved title in what they called “another modern way”. Here’s a snippet from their social media post:
“Banjo-Tooie! On Nintendo Switch for #NintendoSwitchOnline + Expansion members! NEXT WEEK! Exciting to see this one available in another modern way (alongside @XboxGamePass and Rare Replay), if just so we can watch loads of new players work out how to get into Grunty Industries.”
The title is already available on Xbox Game Pass and in the Rare Replay collection. The Switch Online version’s trailer also mentions that the N64 release will now be playable in widescreen mode.
Steven Mayles, the creative mind behind Banjo and Kazooie, offered his words of encouragement to players attempting to conquer Grunty Industries:
“Good luck getting past Grunty’s bloody Industries everyone.”
Other Rare titles like Blast Corps, Banjo-Kazooie, GoldenEye 007, and retro series like Donkey Kong Country and Battletoads have also made their way to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack N64 library.
