Bloober Team Evolves with Original Sci-Fi Horror Game Cronos: The New Dawn
Indie horror developer Bloober Team is making a bold statement by declaring that they are done creating “shitty” games. This shift comes as Silent Hill 2 Remake garners widespread acclaim from both critics and fans, propelling Bloober to announce their latest project – an original sci-fi survival horror titled Cronos: The New Dawn. The team emphasizes that they have “evolved” and learned from past mistakes.
Reflecting on the journey leading up to Silent Hill 2’s release, director/producer Jacek Zieba shared, “It was tough for those couple of years before [Silent Hill 2’s] release. Now it’s very good spirits inside [the studio]. We want to show what we can do on our own, how we can evolve our ideas.” Director/designer Wojciech Piejko praised the internal team at Bloober for successfully recreating a legendary game, despite facing criticism and pressure. Piejko stated, “They made the impossible possible, and it was a bumpy road because of all the hate on the internet. The pressure was big on them, and they delivered, and for the company, it’s an amazing moment.”
Expressing their commitment to the horror genre, Zieba added, “We want to be a horror company. We want to find our niche, and we think we found our niche, so now we just… let’s evolve with it.” Piejko echoed this sentiment by stating, “We gathered a team that loves horror. So I think, for us, it would not be easy to switch [to other genres], and we don’t want to.”
In a glowing review by Eurogamer, the Silent Hill 2 Remake received a perfect score of five out of five stars, praising Bloober Team for expanding the original game while preserving its essence.
Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake has already achieved remarkable success, with 1 million copies sold worldwide since its launch on 8th October. This milestone likely makes Silent Hill 2 Remake the best-selling game in the Silent Hill franchise.
Despite the positive reception, some players have encountered a frustrating glitch in the Brookhaven Hospital level of Silent Hill 2 Remake that can impede progress. Fans are advised to be cautious and informed about this issue to avoid any disruptions while playing.
