If you’ve been patiently waiting for a physical version of Black Myth: Wukong, the good news is that Game Science has confirmed a PlayStation 5 physical edition is on the horizon.
In a recent announcement on the Black Myth: Wukong X / Twitter account, the developer expressed gratitude for the fans’ patience and announced that the “master disc for Black Myth: Wukong is ready.” The master disc contains the final launch version of the game, which will then be duplicated onto discs during production.
The post also mentioned that “the PS5 physical edition will be available to you very soon,” without specifying an exact release date. However, with the completion of the master disc, it is likely that the physical launch will happen within the next few months.
Additionally, Game Science shared that the game has already sold 10 million copies across PS5 and PC platforms as of August 23. While an Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S version is in the works, there is currently no confirmed release timeline for it.
Black Myth: Wukong was initially released on August 19. The game, inspired by Journey to the West, combines elements from popular soulslike games in a visually striking world. Players can expect challenging boss battles and a slew of formidable enemies to overcome.
The game did face some controversy, particularly when streamers claimed they were given a list of topics to avoid discussing while playing, including “feminist propaganda, fetishization, and other content that instigates negative discourse.” This request sparked criticism from online commentators who deemed it sexist.
