Just a few weeks ago, Nintendo made an announcement about a new Switch Online Playtest Program. Even though participants were told not to discuss or reveal anything about it, details about what to expect were leaked online almost immediately.
Now, the playtest has officially begun, and users are already sharing screenshots, video clips, and even live streams of the game. As one participant mentioned on social media, Nintendo has not taken any steps to prevent screenshots or recordings during the playtest, allowing the build’s footage to be saved.
Several players are currently streaming the playtest on platforms like Twitch and YouTube. However, copyright takedowns are being issued already. While we cannot display any content related to this playtest on Nintendo Life, screenshots and videos are circulating on social media platforms like Reddit.
Originally, Nintendo created hype around this playtest by linking it to a “new feature” for the Switch Online service. It was also advertised as a “first-come, first-serve” program that is limited to specific locations globally, meaning not everyone can take part.
The fact that copyright takedowns are already in motion suggests that Nintendo is serious about enforcing the guidelines. This is not an isolated incident, as Valve’s new multiplayer action Steam game, Deadlock, faced a similar situation recently.
