Exciting News for Switch Gamers
Yooka-Replaylee, the highly anticipated remake of Playtonic’s original 3D platformer, Yooka-Laylee, is rumored to be making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2.
The developer recently generated buzz on X / Twitter by releasing a new trailer for the game along with the announcement that “As well as PC, Yooka-Replaylee WILL be on PS5, Xbox Series and… Nintendo.”
The mention of “Nintendo” was followed by a playful use of the eyes emoji, with the trailer even featuring cartoonish eyes superimposed on the Nintendo logo at the end.
Yooka-Replaylee currently has store pages on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC where interested players can wishlist the game and learn about its new features. Interestingly, there is no such page for the Nintendo Switch, leading to speculations that Playtonic may be holding off on this version until Nintendo unveils its new hardware.
In case you’re not familiar with it, Yooka-Replaylee is a complete reimagining of the original Yooka-Laylee, which first launched in 2017 after a successful Kickstarter campaign. Developed by former Rare staff, it serves as a spiritual successor to the beloved Banjo-Kazooie series.
While the original Yooka-Laylee received mixed reviews for its lackluster levels, its sequel Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, was met with critical acclaim for its inspired gameplay and design. With Yooka-Replaylee, fans are hopeful for a much-improved version of the game.
The upcoming release promises enhanced visuals, performance, and resolution, along with a new world map, fresh challenges, and various quality-of-life improvements, all aimed at delivering a more enjoyable gaming experience overall.
