The Outlast Trials outlines what’s new in Season 2 after “cyber incident” caused “significant” delay

Red Barrels Shares Updated Roadmap for The Outlast Trials

The development team at Red Barrels recently provided an updated roadmap for The Outlast Trials, following a cyber incident that impacted production. Despite the setback, they are excited to announce new content for fans of the Murkoff universe.

While a definite release date for the upcoming major update is still pending, the team assures players that they are working diligently to deliver fresh and exciting content. The last update in July introduced the formidable new enemy, Franco “II Bambino” Barbi.

To keep players engaged, The Outlast Trials Geister event will return to the Sinyala facility with a new unexpected twist. Additionally, Season 2 will bring new maps, challenges, enemies, and storylines. Players can also look forward to a festive Winter Kills event.

“Following the recent cyber incident, our team has been focused on developing Season 2 and new features for the game. We appreciate the patience and understanding of our community during this challenging time and are committed to delivering fresh content for everyone to enjoy,” the team stated.

Red Barrels has addressed the security issue and confirmed that no player data was compromised. While the exploit has been contained, the company’s internal IT systems were breached, and some data was accessed by a third party.

As one reviewer expressed, “The Outlast Trials is excessive and frantically enjoyable – but can occasionally tip over into frustration more than fear.” Released in early access last year, the game received a three out of five stars rating.
