Wolverine PS5 Loses Creative Director to Xbox’s Perfect Dark

Marvel’s Wolverine for the PlayStation 5 has seen some changes in its development team, as its creative director has moved on to Microsoft. According to a report by Stephen Totilo of Game File, Brian Horton left the project in the summer of 2024 and is now working on the Xbox exclusive title Perfect Dark.

Wolverine PS5 development now led by Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart veterans

A representative from Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed to Game File that Marcus Smith has taken over as the new creative director for Wolverine, with Mike Daly stepping in as the new game director. Daly has taken the place of the previous director Cameron Christian, who remains at Insomniac Games in a different role.

It is unclear why Cameron Christian was replaced by Mike Daly, but both Smith and Daly have previously worked together in the same capacities on Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

It is worth mentioning that in July 2024, Wolverine also saw its narrative lead Mary Kenney depart from the project, leading some to speculate that the game’s narrative development may have concluded. However, there has been no official confirmation regarding this.

Rumors have been circulating that Sony may soon unveil Wolverine, possibly at The Game Awards 2024 in December. With a significant amount of time passing since the last major release from PlayStation Studios and Wolverine having been in development for quite some time, all eyes are on Insomniac Games.
