Square Enix fans can expect its games to “release simultaneously on each platform more and more”

Square Enix aims to enhance the availability and accessibility of its games by ensuring that upcoming releases are launched simultaneously on multiple platforms.

In an interview with 4Gamer, Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida, the producer and director of Final Fantasy 14, shared that Square Enix is moving away from platform exclusivity. He stated that fans can anticipate Square Enix titles being released simultaneously on all platforms more frequently.

“We want players to enjoy our games on various platforms,” he mentioned, referring to the upcoming release of Fantasian Neo Dimension. “This time, we are launching the Xbox Series X|S version concurrently.”

Yoshida hinted at the possibility of re-releasing Vagrant Story and Final Fantasy Tactics, and even playfully discussed the potential of a new Parasite Eve game with Hironobu Sakaguchi.

For those who missed it, the Crossroads patch for Final Fantasy 14 – the first significant update for the MMO post the Dawntrail release – has a confirmed launch date: Tuesday, November 12.

This update will introduce new content such as the Yuweyawata Field Station dungeon, Chaotic Alliance Raids, and additional role quests. The Final Fantasy team noted that “Players who have completed all Dawntrail role quests or all Wachumeqimeqi quests will be able to enjoy a finale to wrap up their respective stories.”
