The PS5 Pro preorder stock has been surprisingly steady since it first became available in late September on PlayStation Direct and major retailers on October 10. However, if you’re looking to secure release-day delivery for the November 7 launch and enjoy gaming throughout the upcoming three-day weekend, time is running out. As of November 4, Walmart is still offering delivery on launch day, with other retailers like Best Buy and Target potentially delivering the PS5 Pro on release day. Unfortunately, preorders from Amazon placed now won’t arrive until Monday, November 11.
If you prefer to order online and pick up your PS5 Pro at a local store, Best Buy is currently the only major retailer offering in-store pickup for online orders. Stock availability may vary by location, but if you have a nearby Best Buy, there’s a good chance you can place your order online and pick it up on Thursday morning.
The PS5 Pro, priced at $700, is a digital-only console out of the box. However, it is compatible with Sony’s $80 Disc Drive attachment, originally released last year alongside the PS5 Slim Digital. It’s important to note that the Disc Drive is currently only available at Walmart. Additionally, if you prefer to position your console upright, you’ll need to purchase the PlayStation Vertical Stand for $30. In total, including local tax, you could be looking at spending around $810. It’s also worth mentioning that owners of the PS5 Slim and Slim Digital models will also need to purchase the stand separately.
In addition to the launch of the PS5 Pro, Sony is releasing the Chroma Indigo and Pearl DualSense Controllers from the Chroma Collection, which also includes console covers. A third model, Chroma Teal, is set to release in January. Alongside these releases is the Fortnite Limited Edition DualSense, with preorders being restocked at Best Buy, Target, and Walmart.
The PS5 Pro boasts a larger GPU that enables 45% faster rendering, as well as support for advanced visual technologies like AI-driven upscaling and enhanced ray tracing. It comes equipped with a 2TB SSD, double the storage capacity of other PS5 models, which is a significant advantage considering the cost of comparable 1TB SSDs. Additionally, the design of the PS5 Pro includes wider “racing stripes” on the side panels and comes with a standard DualSense 5 controller. Extra controllers are priced at $75-$80 each, excluding limited editions like the Fortnite-themed model, which are priced at $85.
The PS5 Pro’s 2TB SSD provides ample storage for games, but if you plan on playing physical games, you will need the PS5 Disc Drive attachment. This $80 accessory, originally launched last holiday for the PS5 Slim Digital, is also compatible with the upcoming PS5 Pro. Due to high demand, the Disc Drive has frequently sold out over the past month and is currently only available at Walmart and GameStop (Pro members only), with stock shortages at Best Buy, Target, and Amazon.
